About the project
BookingMenu is a corporate lunch-reservation platform with kiosk check-in, built to order and running in production at CRAVIL (Cooperativa Regional Agropecuária Vale do Itajaí). It centralizes daily meal management for hundreds of employees spread across operational cafeterias.
The problem
The operation needed predictability in meal preparation and reliable attendance control at the cafeterias, without relying on manual processes or side spreadsheets.
The solution
- Weekly menu planning with advance reservations and protein swaps.
- Real-time check-in on dedicated kiosk terminals, with physical device validation.
- Admin panel with operational reports, PDF and Excel export, and action auditing.
Architecture and stack
The backend runs on Node.js 20 with Express 5 under a Modular Hexagonal Architecture (Ports & Adapters), keeping domain rules isolated from input adapters (REST dashboard and kiosks) and from infrastructure. Persistence uses PostgreSQL 17 with Prisma 6, and the frontend is Next.js 15 (App Router) with React 19, TanStack Query and TanStack Table.
Terminals authenticate via a device token (X-Device-Token) that validates the MAC address of pre-registered hardware. Deployment uses Docker Compose and Cloudflare Tunnel, with Swagger/OpenAPI documentation and Winston logging.
Code and ownership
The business-logic source code is confidential. The public repository is a technical case study documenting the architecture, the engineering decisions and the stack used in production.
