About the project
BizSocial is an enterprise social network (ESN) that connects employees across more than 50 operational branches. It combines 1-on-1 and group messaging with a corporate feed and official announcements, running in production at CRAVIL (Cooperativa Regional Agropecuária Vale do Itajaí).
The problem
Internal communication was spread across informal, non-auditable channels. The operation needed a single, governed platform with read tracking, an audit trail and a reliable way to publish official announcements.
The solution
- Bidirectional real-time messaging with read receipts, voice notes, attachments and online presence.
- Corporate feed with a rich editor and official announcements that require read confirmation.
- Administrative reports and audit logs of platform actions.
Architecture and stack
The backend runs on Node.js 20 with Express 5 under a Modular Hexagonal Architecture split into isolated modules (auth, chat, group, feed, audit). Persistence uses PostgreSQL 17 with Prisma 6, Redis 7 and BullMQ handle background video processing, and Socket.IO v4.8 powers low-latency communication.
The frontend is Next.js 16 (App Router) with React 19, TanStack Query and Tiptap. Attachments are stored on Cloudflare R2 through the S3 API, keeping egress cost at zero, and the API is documented with Swagger/OpenAPI.
Code and ownership
The business-logic source code is confidential. The public repository is a technical case study documenting the architecture, the engineering decisions and the stack used in production.
