About the project
Finance App is a personal finance platform that brings money tracking into one place: it records transactions, categorizes income and expenses and turns the raw data into an analytic dashboard, with a premium subscription tier.
The problem
Tracking personal finances usually means spreadsheets that are tedious to maintain and hard to read. The goal was a single place where transactions are fast to log and the numbers are easy to understand at a glance.
The solution
- Full transaction management: create, edit, delete, filter and search.
- Analytic dashboard with interactive charts for income, expenses and investments.
- Smart categorization covering housing, transport, food, health, education, salary and more.
- Premium subscription tier with Stripe checkout and webhook-driven status.
Architecture and stack
The app runs on Next.js 14 (App Router) with React 18, Tailwind CSS and shadcn/ui, using Recharts for data visualization and TanStack Table for the transaction tables. Forms are validated with React Hook Form and Zod.
Data lives in PostgreSQL accessed through Prisma, with server actions for mutations. Authentication uses Clerk and payments use Stripe, with signed webhooks keeping subscription state in sync.
Code and ownership
The source code is public and released under the MIT license; this project is part of the portfolio and can be inspected and run locally.
